I am trying to get my Occupational/Business License for the county that I live in in Florida. The State of Florida does not regulate eyelash extensions. I received my EE certification, but I am not licensed in anything else. I am not sure what category EE would fall under to register my business. The lady at the license office thought it would be permanent make-up, but then she said the State of Florida requires a license for that. I am confused about how to classify my business. They have a misc profession license -please specify category. Does anyone have any ideas?

Karen Elaine,

Hi, Just an FYI ...I believe that Nail techs in the MASS MARKET salons petitioned the State of Florida last year to do eyelash extensions in their salons. (namely Regal Nails).
The State Board stated that you must be a licensed Esthetician or Cosmetologist to do eyelash extensions in Florida. You may want to go back through their archived minutes of the Florida DBPR/Cosmetology meetings to double check. Yes it is true that Florida does not require EE certification..I just seem to remember that Regal Nails wanted permission citing,"non chemically invasive procedures are used to do EE".
I also know that most EE companies here in Florida won't let you take their course without proof of an estheticians license or a cosmetology license.
Hope this helps you.
