I have a client who is having a severe reaction to the lashes probably glue. She is sure that I can find a hypoallergenic glue. i am sure i can't. she said that she read on the internet that there are some glues made without latex. i explained that it is the cyanacyrlate that is the problem and all glues are made from them. there for there is no such thing as hypo allergenic glue. how do you all suggest that i handle this client.

Rosie,

I am not sure you can do anything more for this client and that means you have given her your professional wisdom/knowledge.
Nothing more you can do, nothing to say.

Rosie, I would suggest that you 'nicely' fire this client.
If she is going to have an allegic reaction to the adhesive, she will ALWAYS have this problem regardless of which glue she uses.

You could always try the IPA technique on her after the treatment, but I'm not 100% sure if it will work.

Rosie,
As someone who's dealt with this before I have to agree with nicely "firing" her. Clients unfortunately can do too much of their own research anymore and think that they know better than the professional. Just because of some random article on line. I would suggest trying to explain it one more time and if she doesn't get it tell her you think she needs to find somewhere else to go because you can't seem to satisfy her.

Best of Luck!!

i have explained this in length. i told her that its the cyanacrlate and she thinks she is sure she will find one that is hypo allergenic. she thinks that maybe one without latex.

grr.

what ever.

Hi Rosie,
Show her the MSDS, and that there IS no latex in these products. Even if she is insistent, you can be firm & tell her that you will not do the work. I know that sounds like a steel door closing, but it is what it is. Even sensitive formulas are made of the same chemicals; just certain characteristics tweaked for no odor/no fume results.

I did this with a client last year. She called again at Christmas, pleading to get her lashes back. her doctor 'removed' the lashes for her when she went to the clinic with swollen eyes. Her lashes were *bald*. She was devastated. She does not hear when told she cannot do this to herself again. The reactions get *worse*, not milder. Switch products, and the body catches on - it can't be fooled. The other day, she showed up in my shop with one of our newer gals. Even though I told the practitioner the whole story & to use sound judgement, the appointment was done. I absolutely wash my hands of it. Its on her plate now. It still gets me worried that the tech could not find the firm words to turn her away, but they are all independent business women & I cannot dictate what they should do. If she comes back for fills, I am going to insist there is a rider signed by all three of us, stating that they both choose to go against my professional recommendations & that they take full responsibility themselves.

I feel for ya. It does say something for the impact that this gorgeous service has on our clients. They will sacrifice their very comfort & health to have bambi eyes!

i had a client tell me she was allergic to surgical glue i told her thats what i use she said not to worry about it she would suffer the consequenses. sure nuf i have done full set and 2 fills and progressivly she has gotten reations quicker each time. she has finally come to the conclusion that she cant have anymore fills. in the mean time the lashes are not bothering her now so she is going to let them fall out on their own.

i did ipa on both these clients the second one i was careful to do ipa twice when finished just to make sure i got all the lashes and still she had a reaction duh....you told me so.

Rosie,

I know these girls call and beg and sometimes I feel bad for them but the bottom line is that sometimes you just have to stand firm.

Anywhoo the idea of hypoallergenic adhesive sounds great but I do not see how it would be possible :-(
