Hey Lashout, NY is an amazing place..theres no place like it. I lived in the area most of my life. Best times to go.. try not to go in the winter as it is ridiculously cold. Also try not to go in the summer, the heat and humidity is unbearable. I think the best time to go is right after summer when the temperature drops and the leaves start changing colors..right around late September or October. it is so beautiful at that time of year. It's right in between the extreme weather!! :)

Hi!! Tami this is really great news!!! I suggest the fall as well, summer is kinda blah- hot muggy and sticky and we don't have beaches like your used to. The fall is perfect it is cooler and you get to enjoy what ny is really about a bit easier.
If lash bash is still going to happen (it better:-) def keep it for the end of sept so you get to meet everyone as well! Your more than welcome to stay with us while your here- I am only 25 min out of nyc if we take the railroad which is only a few blocks away from me. I'll block days off and we could really go out around town!!! ooohh ooooh this is way to much fun!! :-)

I'm so excited I'm going to pee. This is the scariest thing I've ever done in my life (other than giving birth). I've never traveled overseas on my own before and to be honest with you all, I'm a little freaked out. But I've ALWAYS loved the USA and must do this for myself. I'm so grateful that I have my EE friends to catch up with while I'm over there. I'm looking forward to having this Lash Bash with you all. Coney is getting a few prices for a Motel/Hotel in Midtown NY. Thats where all the shops are, right? I LOVE shopping and looking around. A few bars/nightclubs wouldn't hurt either...lol. Any suggestions as to good Accomodation would be appreciated. Ria, that is so kind of you to offer. I really don't want to impose on you. Perhaps I could stay one night, so I wouldn't be putting you out too much. I can't wait to see your boxer! So everone thinks September? Sound good. Its less than 12 weeks away. I hope we can all arange some time to get together. I'm thinking 27th September? WWW.LASHOUTLASHES.COM lashout@bigpond.net.au

I have spent a lot of time in NYC, and have had good luck with the Apple Core hotel group - I like the Hotel at Times Square or the Comfort Inn - both part of this group and both on West 46th Street. The hotels are great - beautiful, clean, but no restaurant (but who needs a restaurant in their hotel in NYC?), and I love the location because its right in the theatre district, there are always lots of people on the street so I feel really safe, and you can ALWAYS get a cab, no matter what time it is or whatever the weather. The rates vary a lot, depending on the dates - $106 to $399 per night. If there is a big convention or something, forget it. Last year I made the mistake of going the weekend of the NYC marathon, and all the hotel prices were through the roof - but it was a great time to be in the city. There were men everywhere!!!! But I agree - September/October is my favorite time, too. Beautiful weather! here is the link for the Apple Core group: http://www.applecorehotels.com/apple-core-hotels/ good luck! - Susie

Yey!!! Slumber parties sound like fun!!! I have 2 spare bedrooms- I'm sure bozlee (our baby bulldoggy) would give up his room for guests-he loves them :-)I have a pretty big living room too-keeping in mind what ny apartments are like. Seriously I have no problem putting anyone up!! You fine gals are welcome :-) Tami I know you will be here longer, so think about it- you wouldn't be imposing at all- it will be really fun I will take some time off from work- I'll take a mini ny vacation myself. I will be enrolled in my masters program at the time so I just might have to go to class an evening or two while your here but I'm sure we could find a way to entertain you for those few hours. Seriously girls- this just has to happen somehow!!!! I'll start browsing for deals as well!

I live in NJ and work in NY (grew up in the outskirts) but as I am reading all these posts from the native NYers......you girls are so sweet to; 1) offer your residence to these nice girls on this blog and; 2) go out of your way to find a reasonable rate for them. That is just sooo nice of you, not that I am shocked by your warm generousity, but I am proud to say that I am a NYer & where did we get the bad name?!! : )

ITS BOOKED AND PAID FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coney your the best! I appreciate your research for me. The Hide out sounds perfect. I might take the cheaper accomodation option, as the Frequent Flyer points where not 100% free, so I did get charged 1/4 of the price for my airfair :( Room D: $115-$120 per nite Ria your generosity has blown me away. But If its alright with you, I might stay only 2 nights for that Slumber Party. At least that way if we have a big night, we can crawl home together...lol Change of plans, to fit in with the kids school holidays. Don't think hubby would cope without me! OK, I spoke with Kakurega Hotel. Room D nor E were not available anymore.....They have another apartment hotel: Kakurega New York Apartment 626 10th Avenue, New York, NY 10036 (bet. 44sreet & 45street) ***very close from Women's Hotel. This hotel is for both Men and Women Guests. NO SMOKING BUILDING NO Shoes wearing in the room (like Japanese….) Staffs have difficulty to speak English. (you can call me anytime for the translation.) Available Room: Room: A (Need to share: Bathroom & shower) http://www.kakuregany.com/room.php?room=a $115 (up to 2 guests in the room) Inide the room: TV, DVD, Wireless High-speed Net, Air conditioner Need to share: Bathroom & shower, Kitchen area, PC for internet, coffee maker, May become available, but not guaranteed….: Room: T (Terrace Room) http://www.kakuregany.com/room.php?room=t $185(up to 2 guests in the room) Inside the room: Private Bathroom & shower, TV, DVD, Wireless Highspeed Net, Mini-refrigerator, Air conditioner Need to share: Kitchen area, PC for internet, coffee maker They couldn't hold the room for me....they need definate In & Out days to book.(Tami, if you are staying at Ria's during the stay, I need to know when it will be, to book this hotel.) Hotel guests are maily Japanese, hotel puts ads only in Japanese. But Non-Jap is also welcome. However, the stuffs there have a difficulty to speak English, so you can call me anytime for the translation. One thing I am a bit worrying about is...what will the Jap guests cook at the kithen? Hope they won't make any Sushi(fish) there. Well, I hard the place is very clean and nice.

OK, my agent found one NICE hotel, in Queens. (Ria lives in Queens) You may feel more comfortable to stay in here than Kakurega (this hotel could be too-Japanese?), because this is very popular hotel!6 subway stops from Midtown, Manahttan, which is not bad at all.(10~15mins subway ride from hotel to midtown, #7 subway is clean train.) A lot of restaurants near hotel. La Quinta Hotel (in Queens....Ria lives in Queens) http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ6014&propId=6014 $142.49+Tax/Nite

Tami- whichever nights you wish to stay here you are more than welcome- you pick the days and let me know :-) Karol- Try and make it on the weekend so we could go out at night and party it up a bit, not that we cant go out on other nights as well, thursdays are fun out in the city as well. I will have to come back on later I don't have too much time to chat right now but we have to figure out the dates, who is in so we can make an itinerary. For those staying a shorter amount of time what would you like to go see and do. This will be a great time- looking forward to it and best is that it really isn't all that far away. :-)

mmm- I would stay away from queens blvd hotels- as well as the ones near the airports- nothing really around them and some of them are eeek- not too fabulous. Very industrial around there- and its far from where I live so it would be more difficult to pick everyone up and go around. The best one seems to be the place with 200 a night or so in midtown- very convenient to everything but I know its more per night. So I looked at the W hotel-umm no, 600 per night-LOL!! Crazy I tell ya! I will check on expedia maybe a holiday inn in the city? I will report back.- ok nothing too great :-( Lori- I don't know why we get the bad rap either, who ever said that didn't meet us :-) I hope you come out and play as well!

wow- I never checked hotel prices in nyc before! they are a bit pricey. Whats with the hotels with a shared bath? Don't get that!! Comfort inn near central park is 200/night. Or the ones COney found are nicer as well: Midtown East 27 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016 ( between Madison Ave.& Park Ave.) see room pic on this website: http://www.redacinc.com/short_term_apt/38st.html $210 per nite+ 5% occupancy tax +$4 per day room tax Near Grand Central Station, 10 mins walk to Macy's and Shopping Area Kitchen in the room Cancel: if 2 weeks advance notice, no penalty. You can save a bit more by being central to attractions- cuts down on cab fare- then again you cant come to ny without a subway experience-lol- i'll do the subway thing a couple of times but I don't like them ( i know that sounds terrible but I can't help it) _(coney- don't make fun of me) Ok: traavel zoo puts out specials all the time, right now the specials run until sept 1st I think in a month or so they will do promotions to october etc... Maybe its worth waiting a month or so for hotel booking? take a look at some of these specials the hotels are very fab for under 200 a night. Hopefully these will pop up with the dates we would like. http://hotels.travelzoo.com/new-york-hotels/ Tami- you could say with me for some extra nights if you want- (or anyone else)

Ria and Coney, thanks so much for doing all this investigative work. HOnesly my brain can't handle doing that right now. I think I have 'adhesive brain' right now. Ever since we started talking about the side effects I'm starting to wonder...... Ria I will most definitely make it there over the weekend so we can party (although I can pretty much party any day of the week, just ask my hubby :-) Coney, I thought the Japanese place looked really cool! I would stay there. I am an international sort of gal. But if Ria still has openings at Ria's Inn, I would stay there and sleep with Bosley. ----------

Hey, everybody: I've been following this with some interest because I am always looking for an alternative place to stay in NYC ( and the Japanese places look great!) - and here's something else to consider. How about the YMCA at Central Park West? I have stayed there before, it's safe and clean and newly renovated, they have PRIVATE rooms in that time period for $105!!! It's right off the park, you can walk to Lincoln Center - a beautiful area of the City, especially that time of year - you can stroll over to Columbus Avenue (highly recommended) for the Green Flea Market on Sunday. Museums and great food nearby, easy access to all public transportation, and they have swimming pools, too! here is the link to the YMCA: http://www.ymcanyc.org/index.php?id=1134 click on reservations and plug in your dates - you want the 'single bed deluxe ' - which is described like this: "Single occupancy room on renovated floor -- Custom wood furniture, carpeting, basic cable T.V., air conditioning, semi-private bathroom facilities." I am telling you, this is a great place to stay. And if someone is going to meet you in NYC, you can also get a room with BUNK BEDS and stay together! If you are interested in this, I would book soon - it always sells out. What do you think? My birthday is 24 August - Virgo. of course!

My hubby has given me the two thumbs up! So I need to book this very soon but I want to make sure I'm staying where everyone else is staying.Ria, I think I will come Sept 4-7 so that I will be there for the weekend. Exciting! ----------
