basic message board etiquette

Post under correct category. A Thread is a topic. Stay "on topic" when posting within a thread. Start a new thread if you want to change the subject.

Personal issues. If a question has little relevance to other readers, address the person in a private email.

Never type in ALL CAPS. Readers interpret the writers tone as yelling.

No Trolls allowed. A troll is someone who posts with the sole intent of instigating an argument. Trolling will earn disrespect quickly. Trolls are easy to identify after a few posts and may find themselves suspended from a forum.

Read the message board for a while before posting your first message. Get to know which topics are cold, which are warm. This avoids asking the same questions repeatedly. Some questions are expected to return from time to time, but it shows good intent if you've done your homework.

Avoid duplicating a thread to bring attention to your thread. ADD a post to your old thread if you can find it and that will bring the thread/subject back to the top of the message board.

Just keeping this one toward the front for easy access to newcomers.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in bringing forward an old thread,in fact the opposite is true. Rather than start a new one on a like subject, one is easier to locate than two, plus it shows that the reader is in fact interested in the subject matter of the board and has taken the time to read.
