Hi Lizzy, My brother works for an airlines and I would suggest not taking it. If they have doubts about anything...they can and will take it. Alot of times these people are simply in a bad mood and have nothing better to do than make someone elses life mizzerable. I know how you feel about checking luggage though :( Just my thoughts though. S.

when i've gone down to visit my mother i've taken my hand tools only with documentation, my license any pertinent info i can get to convince them i am okay. on the two occasions i was pulled over, i submitted all my info and they ended up asking me about the profession and let me go. I would never check my luggage. Lost it two times and you never get back the cost of what you lost.

Well I have to check my luggage when I travel because I cannot travel with all my liquid "products" of three ounces or less to fit inside a quart size ziploc bag. If you have doubt about your machine, ask TSA. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

Hi, Since the class is not hands on, I would leave your machine @ home. ---------- Jane Adler, CPCP AZ State Licensed Vocational Private Postsecondary School Authorized "OSHA Outreach Instructor" SofTap® distributor, trainer, technician CMI, FAAM by exam Traditional Tattoo Artist Member,NTA, SPCP, APT and NCTA http://www.janeadler.com

Yep, that was it. I could just visualize them xraying my bag and mistaking it for a bomb! A quick story, a friend of mine years ago said she was traveling to Europe (with her vibrator in her carry on) when that happened to her.Can you imagine? well, first of all it's not my best friend or traveling my buddy! LizzyI know that Liza's class was a no-hands on but she mentioned at one point that we could bring our machines or there would be machines available for us to practice with.

I have flown cross country, post 9/11 madness, with my coil machines, power source, the whole thing in aluminum case with absolutely no problems. I tried to alert them during security ( I am a tattoo artist, I am checking in some tattoo machines ) but noone really cared, and they went thru their x-ray security just fine. I also talked to an award winning tattoo artist who said he travels with his machines the same wasy, no problem, except he said he packs the power supply in his check-in . After seeing how they throw our checked-in luggage around, I definitely would not do that. Happy travels

No one wants to advise you as to what a security agent will or will not tag you for. Different airlines may or may not be different. I travel mostly SW. However, my own experience is that I carry my Tat Tap Daddio and Nouveau machines every month on Southwest and I have not had many problems. I say many because I have had a "bag check" on a couple of occassions and they swipe it with the material that would indicate an unacceptable item and both machines obviously clear fine. I would be very upset however if they decided to keep one or both of my machines so I understand your concern. I ususally (when it is my time to have my belongings go through the x-ray) tell the inspector that this is a tattoo machine. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Another option is to UPS, US Postal Service, or FedEx it to your destination and not have to worry about the airport at all.

Lizzy, I took 17 trips cross country last year, and took my machines almost all of them. I was fortunate with each trip, no problems. I know my luck was going to run out soon. I actually decided to keep extra liquid "stuff" at my destination, since I traveled so often. Needless to say, I never actually got that organized, so I always checked my liquids and packed them well. TSA opened my bag often, but I did a lot of clear ziplocks so they were see through, and stuck copies of my licenses in my bag right on top. Your machine will not be a problem, you can pack it easily in your carry on. Needles need to be shipped or checked. Blessings~
